Senior Indian diplomat Atul Khare (Under Secretary General) was appointed as the head of the UN department of Field Support on January 7, 2015.
The objective of Field Support is to provide dedicated support to peacekeeping missions around the world. Atul Khare has become one of the highest ranking Indian officials in the world body because of his hard work and achievements.
About Atul Khare
Atul Khare who is 55, started his career as an Indian diplomat in 1984. He had worked with the United Nations and Indian Foreign Services and currently is providing charitable medical advice in India. Atul Khare was posted as Deputy High Commissioner of India to Mauritius and he has worked as a Counselor at the Permanent Mission of India to the United Nations.
He was Chef de Cabinet of the Foreign Secretary of India and of Director of the United Nations Division in the Ministry of External Affairs in New Delhi and served as Director of the Nehru Centre and Minister (Culture) of the High Commission of India in London since 2005.
