Maharashtra Government Issues Letter of Intent to Buy BR Ambedkar’s London House

BR Ambedkar's London HouseNews - Maharashtra Government has dispatched a letter of Intent (LOI) to the Indian High Commission in UK, formally setting in motion the process to purchase the London house where Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar lived during his stint with the London School of Economics.

This is the house where architect of the Indian Constitution Ambedkar had lived in 1920.

Maharashtra government is buying this 2050 square feet three-storey house on 10, King Henry Road, NW3 of London and has finalised at a sum of 35 crore rupees.

Maharashtra government after buying the house will convert it into a memorial-cum-museum and open it to public from 14th April, 2015 i.e. on the 124 birth anniversary of the architect of the Indian constitution.

This house is of cultural and national importance and pride of millions of people of India as Dr. Ambedkar had stayed in it when he was completing higher studies at the London School of Economics in 1920-21.
