Former Haryana CM Hukam Singh died after illness

Arundhati-Bhattacharya,-CMD,-State-Bank-of-IndiaFormer Haryana chief minister Master Hukum Singh died in a private hospital on Thursday after a short illness, said an official spokesman.

At 89, Singh was facing breathing problems and was admitted at PGI Rohtak since February 12. He was referred to Medanta- the Medicity on Wednesday after his condition worsened. He breathed his last at 6pm.

Master Hukam Singh remained the Chief Minister of the State in 1990-91. He has been elected MLA thrice from Charkhi Dadri before 1990.

Earlier, in the day, state minister O.P. Dhankhar visited the hospital to enquire about the health of the former chief minister, and was told he was fine and had been shifted from the ICU to a general ward.

Hukum Singh was referred to the hospital here from the Post-Graduate Institute of Medical Sciences (PGIMS) at Rohtak Wednesday following a abdominal problem, a doctor said. He was admitted to PGIMS after he reported breathing problems.
