After 3 days’ conjecture about Chief Minister of Gujarat, state BJP President Vijay Rupani was declared as the new chief minister of Gujarat. This news comes as a surprise for the people of Gujarat as few hours before Nitin Patel was expected to be the next chief Minister of Gujarat Now Nitin Patel will be the Deputy chief minister of the state.
Anandiben Patel, who resigned a few days ago said that she wanted younger leaders to take over the charge of the party prior to the 2017 state assembly elections.
Some Quick Facts About the new Gujarat CM – Vijay Rupani
Vijay Rupani was the minister for transport, water supply, labor and employment in Anandiben’s cabinet. He was elected an MLA for the first time in 2014, winning the Rajkot West seat vacated by Vajubhai Vala, who went on to become Karnataka Governor. Rupani was considered the most non-controversial leader.
Vijay Rupani started his political career as a student activist in the ABVP, and eventually moved to RSS. Rupani became a Gujarat Cabinet minister after Anandiben Patel became CM.
Vijay Rupani is from Jain community and first MLA of the BJP from Rajkot West constituency and also the state water resources minister.
