In the education budget of 2014 MHRD planned for 5 new Indian Institute of Management (IIM) colleges and IIM-Sambalpur is one of them. Main campus of IIM-Sambalpur is going to be the in Basantpur. IIM-S campus will have 200 acres lands which is given by the State of Odisha so that the institute can be constructed airy and spacious.
IIM Indore is going to mentor IIM-Sambalpur till the new IIM is fully ready and responsible for all the activities. IIM-Sambalpur started its first Post-Graduation Program (PGP) with the batch of 40 boys and 9 girls.
Being a mentor of IIM-Sambalpur, IIM-Indore decided to start the session at the premises of Silicon Institute of Technology in Sason. Orientation Program was held at Silicon Institute of Technology in the presence of Technical Education Minister Sanjay Das Burma, local Sambalpur MLA Dr. Raseswari Panigrahi and local MP Nagendra Pradhan.
2 Faculty members of IIM-Indore are going to take the classes till IIM-Sambalpur owns the faculty. Being a mentor,IIM-Indore is contributing its best to make IIM-Sambalpur one of the top IIMs in India.
