Modibo Keita appointed as the Prime Minister of Mali

Mali President Keita Names New PMModibo Keita, the chief government negotiator in Mali’s inclusive dialogue has been appointed the country’s new prime minister, replacing Moussa Mara.

He was appointed by President Ibrahim Boubacar Keita, according to a presidential decree, Xinhua reported.

The Office of the Malian Presidency made the announcement of Keita’s appointment on Thursday. It is the second time that the 72-year old Modibo Keita , a retired teacher has been appointed Prime Minister in Mali.

Keita was named Mali’s state representative for inter-Malian inclusive dialogue in April, 2014. He served as prime minister in 2002 in the government led by the then President Alpha Oumar Konare.
