The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced on Thursday, that Anil Kumble will lead our Indian Cricket Team as a Coach for one Year.

There were 57 applicants for the Lead Position of Indian cricket team from which 10 candidates get shortlisted and interviewed by former players Ganguly, Tendulkar and Laxman. These candidates included famous names like Praveen Amre, Lalchand Rajput, Stuart Law, Tom Moody and Andy Moles.

“Indian cricket team deserves the best coach, BCCI has complete faith in Kumble. It is not about an Indian or a foreign coach, it is about best coach for India,” BCCI president Anurag Thakur told a news conference.

He added “I have a short and long plan for the upcoming series, but I cannot plan alone; need players to pitch in.”

Since Kumble has no coaching experience but he has mentored Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) and Mumbai Indians (MI) in the IPL.

After BCCI’s announcement Kumble said “It’s a huge responsibility; I am ready to take this role. Coaches come later, it’s always players first. Strategy will be to win… It’s a great honor to be back in Indian dressing room in a different role.”

Mr. Anil Kumble is one of the successful bowlers of India. He has 619 wickets from 132 Tests.

He snared 337 wickets in 271 one-day internationals in a glittering career spanning from 1990 to 2008.
