Kumar Sangakkara scored 14,065 runs in 402 ODIs (378th innings), becoming the first Sri Lankan batsman to notch up 14,000 runs in ODIs. 37-year-old cricketer also became the first batsman to score hundreds in three consecutive World Cup matches.
Sangakkara completed a third consecutive century in this tournament, a World Cup first and his sixth hundred in his last 11 ODIs.
Sachin Tendulkar is the leading run scorer in Tests, with 15,921 runs, as well as in 463 ODIs with 18,426 runs. He retired from Twenty20 cricket in October 2013 and subsequently announced his retirement from all forms of cricket.
