UN Secretary General appoints Indian Sociologist Saraswathy Menon as member of UN peace-building panel

Ms. Saraswathi Menon has appointed to a panel that will review peace building activities by United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon. Ms. Menon has a doctorate in sociology from Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) in New Delhi.

Menon brings an extensive experience as a researcher and academician as well as in the United Nations system.

About Saraswathi Menon

Ms. Menon is a former lecturer at Madras University and has an extensive experience in women’s and development issue. She has been worked as the director of the Policy Division of UN-Women, the UN body for Gender Equality and the Empowerment of Women, and the director of the UN Development Program’s Evaluation Office.
