Attention Candidates! 

UGC NET Official Website has come up with an awareness notification for you all. As per this latest release, the website has declared that only those universities can confer the degree to the candidates, which were established either–

 

Under a central, State/Provincial Act

Or an institution deemed to be university under section 3 of the UGC Act

Or an institution especially empowered by an Act of Parliament.

But there are many universities, who are functioning in contravention or violation of the UGC Act, 1956. So, in order to make people aware of such fake universities, UGC has released a list of 22 ‘self-styled, unrecognized” institutions.

UGC has said that “section 23 of the UGC Act prohibits use of the word ‘University’ by institutions established other than by norms.”

Amongst the universities declared as fake by UGC, 9 are from Uttar Pradesh, 5 from Delhi, 2 from West Bengal and one each from Bihar, Karnataka, Kerala, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu and Odisha.

To spread awareness amongst candidates, HRD Ministry and Indian Government has started a portal “KnowYourCollege” and a Mobile App providing details about universities and colleges. There is also an inbuilt mechanism for redressal in this portal.

If any person register his complaint in the portal, then the UGC will definitely take an action against it.
