NET Exam Eligibility Criteria | How much eligible are you?

Eligibility for NET Exam June 2019 | Check Out the Required Educational Qualification

 

 

UGC NET Exam Eligibility Educational Qualification

 

 

As per the above visual description of UGC NET eligibility criteria, the candidates who are applicable on following conditions may appear in the exam.

 

For General Category Candidates – 55% aggregate in Master’s Degree or Equivalent Degree

For ST/SC/OBC/ PWD/ Transgender Candidates - 50% aggregate in Master’s Degree

The Ph.D. degree holders whose Master’s level examination had been completed by 19th September 1991 (irrespective of the date of declaration of result) shall be eligible for a relaxation of 5% in aggregate marks for appearing in NET.

A final year student of Master’s Degree or passed out a student whose result is still awaited is also eligible for UGC NET Exam.

 

However, such students will only be considered for the admission for the Award of Junior Research Fellowship and Assistant Professor when they have passed their Master’s Degree with required percentage criteria.

Important Instructions

 

For Economically Weaker Section (EWS) candidates

As per the latest public notice announced by NTA, the Economically Weaker Section candidates as per the Certificate issued by the Competent Authority who are going to fill the UGC NET June 2019 Application Form now required to mention their category in the registration form.

This action has been taken regarding the implementation of reservation for admission in Central Educational Institutions.

Candidates will not be required to upload the EWS Category Certificate but it is necessary to have this certificate at the time of admission/appointment.

Candidates are neither required to send any certificates/documents in support of their eligibility nor printout of their Application Form (Confirmation Page) to NTA. However the candidates, in their own interest, must satisfy themselves about their eligibility for the Test.

 

#Note- In the event of any ineligibility being detected by the UGC/ NTA at any stage, their candidature will be cancelled and they shall be liable for legal action.

 

 

Candidates having post-graduate diploma/ certificate awarded by Indian University/ Institute or foreign degree/diploma/certificate awarded by the foreign University/Institute should in their own interest, ascertain the equivalence of their diploma/degree/certificate with Master’s degree of recognized Indian universities from Association of Indian Universities (AIU), New Delhi. The candidates can apply for UGC NET Exam only for the subject in which they have completed their Master’s Degree and in case the subject is not in the list they may apply for the related subject.

The candidates belonging to the OBC, ST/SC/ Transgender category or PWD, are required to submit attested copy of the category certificate along with the online print out of their application form.

 

The candidates must have passed their PG Degree from known Universities and Colleges.

Age Limit Eligibility for UGC NET Exam | Know in detail

UGC NET Age Limit Criteria

 

 

As per the above illustration –

 

The upper age limit criteria is as follows:

 

The candidates who are applying for the award of Junior Research Fellowship must not age more than 30 years.

 There are no such upper age limit criteria for Assistant Professors.

 

Also check the Age Relaxation benefits:

 

 5 years’ age relaxation will be provided to candidates belonging to OBC, ST, SC, PWD, Transgender and Women Applicants.

 Relaxation will also be provided to the candidates having research on any subject of maximum 5 years, only if the certificate is produced by appropriate university or institute.

 3 Years Relaxation in Age will be provided to the candidates possessing L.L.M. Degree.

 

 

#Note - Total Relaxation in Age will not exceed five years under any circumstances.

EXEMPTION (Eligibility for Assistant Professor) 

 

For NET/SLET/SET Candidates

The Candidates, who have been awarded a Ph.D. Degree in accordance with the University Grants Commission Regulation Act 2009, shall be exempted from minimum eligibility condition of NET/SLET/SET for Assistant Professor or equivalent position in Universities and Colleges.
The candidates who have passed the UGC/CSIR/JRF examination prior to 1989 are also exempted from appearing in NET.

 

For SET Candidates

The candidates, who have cleared the State Eligibility Test (SET) accredited by UGC for eligibility for Assistant Professor held prior to 1st June 2002, are exempted from appearing in NET for Assistant Professor anywhere in India.
For SET held from 1st June 2002 onwards, the qualified candidates are eligible to apply for the post of Assistant Professor only in the universities/ colleges situated in the state from where they have cleared their SET.

To qualify your candidature for taking the CBSE UGC NET Exam you need to have secured 55% marks in your Master's Degree (without rounding off) from any of the universities/colleges identified by the UGC, if your belong to the General Category and 50% marks if you belong to the OBC-NCL, SC/ST or Pwd category. If you have achieved the requisite marks in any of your Master's degree you can apply for and take the NET Exam. Also, you should consider your interest in the stream, with the required percentage you can take any of the subjects i.e. Managment, Psychology or HR Management. Kindly revert with your queries!
