Why? – To prevent violent extremism
The United States announced that it will host an international Anti-terror Summit in Washington. The summit will be held on 18 February 2015. The summit’s aim will be on preventing violent extremism that was seen in attack on Charlie Hebdo’s Paris office.
The gathering of justice and interior chiefs came as France mourned 17 victims of Islamist gunmen this week in the worst assault on its homeland security in decades.
The US Attorney General Eric Holder announced about the summit from Paris where he had joined an emergency conference on terrorism. The conference was held in the wake of a terror spree in France in first week of January 2014 in which 17 people (in attack and manhunt) were killed.
Cazeneuve said EU interior and justice ministers planned to meet soon to discuss further action. A European source said the meeting could take place next week in Brussels.
