    Answer = 6.99 Explanation: pH = - log [H+] Given pH = 4 So, [H+] = 10^-4 After dilution of 10^6 times, [H+] = 10^-10 Also, Kw = [H+] [OH-] = 10^-14 p^H + p^OH = 14. Now since we are diluting it so much therefore we will have to consider the [H+] contribution from dissociation of water too which is 10^-7. Note: We consider [H+] dissociation from water only when [H+] from the solution is extremely low. Here, [H+] of solution is extremely low i.e. 10^-10 so we will have to add concentration of [H+] from water as well. Total [H+] = 10^-10 + 10^ -7 = (0.001 +1) 10^-7 = 1.001 x 10^ -7 pH = - log (1.001 x 10^ -7) = - log 1.001 - ( -7) = -0.00043 +7 = 6.999 answer.
