As per the above visual description of UGC NET eligibility criteria, the candidates who are applicable on following conditions may appear in the exam.
For General/General EWS Category Candidates – 55% aggregate in Master’s Degree or Equivalent Degree
For ST/SC/OBC/ PWD/ Transgender Candidates - 50% aggregate in Master’s Degree
The Ph.D. degree holders whose Master’s level examination had been completed by 19th September 1991 (irrespective of the date of declaration of result) shall be eligible for a relaxation of 5% in aggregate marks for appearing in NET.
The students pursuing Master’s Degree or equivalent exam or the students who have appeared in the final year exam of their PG degree but their result is still awaited can apply for the UGC NET Exam.
However, such students will only be considered for the admission for the Award of Junior Research Fellowship and Assistant Professor when they have passed their Master’s Degree with required percentage criteria within the 2 years of NET Result declaration date. Else, they'd be disqualified for UGC NET.
Candidates with a foreign post-graduate degree / diploma / certificate from a foreign university / institute should ascertain in their own interest the equivalence of their diploma / degree / certificate with a degree from the Association of Indian Universities (AIU) in New Delhi.
For Economically Weaker Section (EWS) candidates –
According to NTA, the Economically Weaker Section candidates as per the Certificate issued by the Competent Authority who are going to fill the UGC NET Dec 2019 Application Form, required to mention their category in the registration form.
This action has been taken regarding the implementation of reservation for admission in Central Educational Institutions.
Candidates will not be required to upload the EWS Category Certificate but it is necessary to have this certificate at the time of admission/appointment.
Candidates are neither required to send any certificates/documents in support of their eligibility nor printout of their Application Form (Confirmation Page) to NTA. However the candidates, in their own interest, must satisfy themselves about their eligibility for the Test.
#Note- In the event of any ineligibility being detected by the UGC/ NTA at any stage, their candidature will be cancelled and they shall be liable for legal action.
Candidates having post-graduate diploma/ certificate awarded by Indian University/ Institute or foreign degree/diploma/certificate awarded by the foreign University/Institute should in their own interest, ascertain the equivalence of their diploma/degree/certificate with Master’s degree of recognized Indian universities from Association of Indian Universities (AIU), New Delhi. The candidates can apply for UGC NET Exam only for the subject in which they have completed their Master’s Degree and in case the subject is not in the list they may apply for the related subject.
The candidates belonging to the OBC, ST/SC/ Transgender category or PWD, are required to submit attested copy of the category certificate along with the online print out of their application form.
The candidates must have passed their PG Degree from known Universities and Colleges.

The upper age limit criteria is as follows:
The candidates who are applying for the award of Junior Research Fellowship must not age more than 30 years as on 1st Dec 2019.
There are no such upper age limit criteria for Assistant Professors.
Also check the Age Relaxation benefits:
5 years’ age relaxation will be provided to candidates belonging to OBC, ST, SC, PWD, Transgender and Women Applicants.
Relaxation will also be provided to the candidates having research on any subject of maximum 5 years, only if the certificate is produced by appropriate university or institute.
3 Years Relaxation in Age will be provided to the candidates possessing L.L.M. Degree.
5 years' relaxation will be provided to the candidates who served in Armed Forces.
#Note - Total Relaxation in Age will not exceed five years under any circumstances.
EXEMPTION (Eligibility for Assistant Professor)
For NET/SLET/SET Candidates
|The Candidates, who have been awarded a Ph.D. Degree in accordance with the University Grants Commission Regulation Act 2009, shall be exempted from minimum eligibility condition of NET/SLET/SET for Assistant Professor or equivalent position in Universities and Colleges.|
|The candidates who have passed the UGC/CSIR/JRF examination prior to 1989 are also exempted from appearing in NET.|
For SET Candidates
|The candidates, who have cleared the State Eligibility Test (SET) accredited by UGC for eligibility for Assistant Professor held prior to 1st June 2002, are exempted from appearing in NET for Assistant Professor anywhere in India.|
|For SET held from 1st June 2002 onwards, the qualified candidates are eligible to apply for the post of Assistant Professor only in the universities/ colleges situated in the state from where they have cleared their SET.|

Question - What is the minimum qualification for appearing in UGC-NET Dec 2019 for candidates of an unreserved category?

Question - Are B.Tech graduates eligible for the UGC NET Exam?
Solution – It’s better for B.Tech graduates to appear in CSIR NET Exam and not in UGC NET. The Council of Scientific and Industrial Research conducts the CSIR NET Exam for the science stream aspirants only. B.Tech graduates can apply for CSIR NET JRF Exam.
Question - What is the age limit/relaxation criteria for the candidates appearing in UGC-NET Dec 2019?
