Important Note

Candidates pursuing a master’s degree or equivalent exam or the candidate who have appeared for the final year exam of their PG degree, but their results are still awaited can apply for the UGC NET Exam.

However, such students will not be considered for the Award of Junior Research Fellowship and Lectureship. They are required to pass the master’s degree with required percentage criteria within 3 years of UGC NET Result declaration date. Else, they'll be disqualified.

Candidates with a post-graduate degree/diploma/certificate from a foreign university/institute should ascertain the equivalence of their diploma/degree/certificate with a degree from the Association of Indian Universities (AIU) in New Delhi in their own interest.

Important Instructions

For Economically Weaker Section (EWS) candidates –

According to the NTA, candidates with the EWS category are issued EWS certificates by the Competent Authority. This action has been taken regarding the implementation of reservation for admission in Central Educational Institutions.

Candidates are required to mention their category in the form, but they don’t have to upload the EWS Category Certificate, but it is necessary to have it at the time of admission/appointment.

For PwD Category Candidates -

A scribe will be identified by the Centre Superintendent on the request is received from the candidate. He/she would be allowed to meet the scribe a day before the examination to verify the it’s suitability.

For All Category Candidates -

Candidates are neither required to send any certificates/documents in support of their eligibility nor printout of their UGC NET Application Form (Confirmation Page) to NTA. However, the candidates, in their own interest, must satisfy themselves about their eligibility for the test.

Note however, if any ineligibility is detected by the UGC/NTA at any stage, their candidature will be cancelled, and they shall be liable for legal actions.

The candidates can apply for NTA NET Exam only for the subject in which they have completed their master’s degree and in case the subject is not in the list they may apply for the related subject.
