We are honored to have you with us! Thanks for sharing your query with Eduncle!

Sir, one of the most important eligibility criteria laid down by UGC NET officials is that the candidates can take the NET Exam for the subject they hold their Master’s Degree in. But as you had done your Bachelors in Travel and Tourism and MBA in Marketing, your candidature to apply for the same is not falling within the prescribed guidelines.

It would be helpful if you would list out the subjects you had in your MBA Semesters. We would be able to provide a more clear picture regarding your query!

    Sir,

I need the following clarification for my daughter.

To apply for NET Exam under OBC category, what is the validity period of OBC Certificate? Based on OBC Certificate dated 18.11.2016, she had applied for Jan 2017 UGC NET exam. Hope she would clear the exam, otherwise, whether she can use the same certificate i.e. dated 18.11.2016 for applying July 2017 UGC NET exam, OR Whether she has to apply for a new one. I have gone through various website to find out the validity of OBC Certificate. But, there is no clear cut information in this regard. If date of OBC is considered and if the validity is presumed as ONE YEAR, then she can apply for JULY 2017 UGC NET. But, the validity is decided on the basis financial year i.e. 31.03.2017, then I have to obtain a fresh certificate. UGC is also not very clear with the validity of OBC certificate. If you can throw some light on this issue, I will be much thankful. (Reason for raising this query is: Financial status of parent changes every financial year. Hence, whether new OBC to be obtained for every financial year?)

    • Eduncle Team

      Hello Sir,

      Greetings from Eduncle!

Thanks for sharing your query with us!

Sir, the validity of OBC Certificate is 6 months. In any case if your daughter reappears for the NET Exam expected to be held in July 2017, then she needs to produce a fresh caste certificate for applying for the exam.

Good Luck for your daughter’s Result! May she achieve success her efforts.

Previously CSIR NET Exam had the subject option of Engineering Sciences but now there is no such option. So, you can either try out by giving GATE Exam or by pursuing PhD in the related subject of your M.Tech and then apply for the position of Lecturer in Colleges and Universities.

Many Colleges and Universities accept the Masters and PhD Degree for teaching engineering subjects.

HELLO SIR, I HAVE APPLIED BOTH NET & JRF …I HAVE ONE DOUBT IF I PASSED NET BUT NO ADEQUATE MARK FOR JRF .. IS THAT SO CAN I PASS NET EXAM???T? OR FAIL BOTH NET & JRF????? PLEASE REPLY AS SOON AS POSSIBLE….

    • Eduncle Team

      Hello Haritha,

      Greetings from Eduncle!

You can choose either JRF or Lectureship or both in NET Exam Online Application Form.

(i). If you’ve chosen only JRF in NET Exam and in case you fail to score enough marks in it, then you’ll not be declared as qualified.

(ii). Same goes with Lectureship Exam too.

(iii). But if you’ve opted JRF & Lectureship both and you qualify only of them in NET Exam, then you would be declared as qualified for that particular role.

Hope this information will be helpful to you.

Thanks for asking your query with us!

      Kind Regards,

    • Eduncle Team

      Hello Revathy,

If you belong to ST/SC/PWD/OBC Category, then you can apply for UGC NET JRF! If not, then you’d be eligible for Lecturer-ship only.

As you’ve mentioned that you’ve pursued PGDBA in Banking & Finance, then we’d advise you to go for UGC NET Economics or UGC NET Commerce.
