UGC NET Eligibility Criteria for June 2026

 

The Eligibility Criteria are primarily based on three factors: nationality, Educational Qualification, and Age Limit. To apply for this Session, candidates must fulfill specific academic and age-related requirements.

 

Education Qualification

 

The students having a PG degree passed with 50% marks (ST/SC/OBC/PWD/Transgenders) or 55% marks (General) are eligible to appear in the NET Exam.

 

Those who have completed a 4-year bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 75% aggregate marks can also apply.

 

Final-year postgraduate students are eligible to apply, provided they obtain their degree within the prescribed timeframe.

 

Age Limit

 

For candidates applying for the Junior Research Fellowship (JRF), the upper age limit is 30 years.

 

There is no age limit for those applying for the Assistant Professor role.

 

PhD admissions under UGC NET also have no upper age limit.

 

Female candidates of any category are eligible up to 35 years for JRF.

 

SC/ST/OBC candidates benefit from a 5% relaxation in both qualifying marks and the age limit.
