GATE Exam Eligibility Criteria 2023 is divided into 3 major parts: - Nationality, Educational Qualification and Age Limit.

Nationality of GATE 2023 Eligibility

 

If you have Indian citizenship, you are eligible for the 2023 exam.

Nepal, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Ethiopia, Singapore, and the United Arab Emirates candidates can also apply for the 2023 exam.

 

 

GATE Exam Educational Qualification

 

The conducting IITs set a minimum educational qualification to appear in the exam which is as follows: -

Candidates who are in the final year of their bachelor’s degree or have completed any government-approved degree can apply for the exam.

Your bachelor’s degree should be in Engineering / Technology / Architecture / Science / Commerce / Arts field.

There are no age norms to appear in this exam.

 

 

GATE Eligibility Criteria 2023 for International Students

 

Graduate Aptitude Test is also conducted in 6 cities outside of India, (Ethiopia, Nepal, Bangladesh, Singapore, Sri Lanka, and the United Arab Emirates).

International students who want to get admission to various IITs & IISc can also apply for the exam. International students must fulfil the below-mentioned eligibility for GATE 2023 to get admission in or MTech or PhD courses:

Bachelor's degree in Engineering or post-graduation in a relevant science subject.

GATE Entrance Exam Eligibility for Backlog Students

 

If you have any backlogs in your graduate degree, then you need to satisfy the following GATE exam eligibility criteria 2023:

You should submit a copy of any of the mark sheets of the final year.

You need to clear all your backlogs before the Counselling process to get admission to IITs.

It must be noted that the internet downloaded mark sheet will not be accepted under any circumstances.

They Should have obtained a declaration from the Principal to upload it while filling up the GATE Application Form.

Important Note regarding the Eligibility Criteria for GATE 2023

 

As per the officials, GATE 2023 Exam will be conducted for international students only if the current pandemic situation is reduced. However, it is possible that the upcoming exam for outside centres will be canceled.

What is GATE Eligibility Certificate 2023?

 

The Institution head issues a final year’s mark sheet/ scorecard called a GATE eligibility certificate.

The certificate is in the prescribed format set by the official authority.

The GATE 2023 eligibility certificate, as applicable, must be uploaded only while filling the online form. It is not to be sent by post.

While filling the online application form, you need to upload this certificate with a resolution of 300KB.

This certificate is useful if you have not received the final year degree from the respective institute.

 

 

Professional Societies/Institutions Conduct Exams in Engineering Streams

 

There are some professional societies and institutions that conduct exams in the field of engineering. However, the candidates must ensure that those examinations are approved by MHRD/AICTE/UGC/UPSC. Also, it will be equivalent to B.E./B.Tech./B.Arch. /B. Planning etc.

To get admission to these institutions you do not need to appear for the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering. Below, we have mentioned the name of these societies/institutions:
