UGC NET Eligibility Criteria 2025
The conducting authority of the exam sets some guidelines to appear in the exam known as Eligibility criteria. It is crucial to satisfy these criteria to apply for the exam.
To appear for the 2025 examination, candidates must fulfill eligibility requirements. UGC NET Eligibility is divided into three factors i.e Educational Qualifications, Age Limit Criteria and Nationality. Below, you check the eligibility criteria in detail:–
Education Qualification:–
If you have completed post-graduation or have enrolled for the master's from a recognized university with a minimum of 55% marks (50% for SC/ST/OBC/PwD candidates). you can apply for this exam.
If you have completed 4-year/8-semester UG course with at least 75% marks also be eligible for 2025 exam. PhD degree holders can also apply for the June 2025.
Final-year postgraduate students are also eligible to apply for the exam.
Age Limit:–
For JRF: The maximum age limit is 30 years (relaxation of up to 5 years for reserved categories).
For Assistant Professor or Lecturership:- There is no no upper age limit in applying for the Assistant Professor Post.

NTA UGC NET Certificate
Conducting the National Eligibility Test and providing the award of certificates and JRF to the qualified candidates is the responsibility of NTA (previously, the University Grants Commission was responsible for releasing the certificate).
The certificates will be issued for those candidates who will qualify for the NTA NET Exam. The validity of the JRF certificate award is three years from the date of issue. At the same time, it is valid for a lifetime for a lectureship.
