Agganna Sutta challenges Vedic ideas of maintaining social order based on Varna Ashrama Dharma. Digha Nikaya is a collection of dialogues of mostly of Gautama himself. There are 180 controversial dialogues. Buddha is himself principle interlocutor in conversation with his principle disciples. Agganna Sutta of Digha Nikaya clearly explains how human society comes into being and disappears. According to the Sutta, the appearance of society is called vivatthakappa or evolving time, opening or evolution. The disappearance of the society is called samvattakappa devolving time or dissolution. It is the 27th Sutta of Digha Nikaya collections. The sutta describes a discourse imparted from the Buddha to two brahmins, Bharadvaja and Vasettha, who left their family and caste to become monks.
