BOSOLA. I fell into the galleys in your service: where, for two years together, I wore two towels instead of a shirt, with a knot on the shoulder, after the fashion of a Roman mantle. Slighted thus! I will thrive some way. Black-birds fatten best in hard weather; why not I in these dog-days? what do these lines said by Bosola in act 1 scene 1 of The Duchess of Malfi imply ?

Duchess of MALFI is an important play as it shows the metamorphosis of a villian from evil to good. Act V of the play is therefore very significant. with the traditional definition of tragedy Act V shouldn't have been there but Webster adds it to provide a new kind of twist to tragedy and revenge drama.

BOSOLA is a villian in THE DUCHESS OF MALFI, but treated very badly by Ferdinand and cardinal in the early section . BOSOLA is referring to it by saying he wore two towels instead of shirt. but as he is evil , he can thrive in worst treatment being meted out to him . this worst treatment is being referred to as bad weather and dog days. he says that he will bear all these hard times and prove his metal that he can be an atrocious evil man
