The new industrial policy was developed in 1991 with the motive to accelerate the growth of industrial sector which was deteriorating from a long time and also with the aim to make industrial sector competent at the international market.Initially there were 8 sectors reserved for public sector and presently, only two sectors- Atomic Energy and Railway operations- are reserved exclusively for the public sector.
