Specification: First stage of commitment, it is reversible if we change cell position cell fate changes. Types of Specification: I. Autonomous specification: e.g. Invertebrate, signal present in cytosol, specification and determination at early 8 cell stage, Potency=fate. II. Conditional specification: eg. Vertebrate and some invertebrate, signal from neighbouring cell by by direct or indirect interaction, at late blastula and early gastrula, potency>fate. III. Syncytial specification: eg.
