His Visions of the Past is decidedly an animation of Byron‟s Dream. Byron stands on “a gentle hill”-Modhu stands on a “bower bosomed on a mount”. Byron saw “two beings in the hues of youth”- Modhu saw “two beings in each other‟s arms in balmy rest.” The very nature of the imitation paradigm framed by Chunder suggests itssuperficiality. Madhusudan differs from Byron in theme and object. While Byron records the sad outcome of their life- "the one/to end in madness-both in misery‟, Madhusudan remoulds the story of the first Man and Woman in a redemptive frame- their fall from Heaven, penitence and restoration to God‟s mercy.
