Poets just pretend to be intellectual but they are not. 2. They portray images that are far from real. 3. Worse images that the poet shows do not imitate the good part of a soul. Had the rational part of the soul is quite stable. - Poetry usually corrupts even the best souls. - It makes us feel the base emotions vicariously, that are reflected in our lives. - The soul is immortal and it cannot be destroyed. - Uses the Myth of Er to prove that in lifecycle there is no death of the soul. The soul remains the same but the factor of being rewarded ur punished is dependant upon the deeds you commit in this present life. This depiction is to distinct between phillosophical virtue and civic virtue. - Phillosophy is treated as a rival to poetry. - Since soul is responsible every man should take responsibility to take care of his actions
