EPITHALAMION is a marriage song which celebrates his marriage with ELIZABETH BOYLE in 1594. The poem celebrates various rituals of the.marriage and the poet thinks that the happiness of th couple is echoed by nature (woods) as is nature is also approving of this relationship and participating in the celebration. The repetition is a rhetorical device which Spenser uses in the poem for the sake of emphasizing his happiness. RING has two meanings - Ring as a verb states the echo of the sounds of wedding bells and other happy noises where as RING as a noun suggests the marriage ring. thus the lines lend to multifarious interpretation.. the change from MAY to SHALL also is significant as it suggests that the poet is gradually getting convinced that by his fruition of love he is able to bring more happiness to nature.
