Exam Pattern CSIR UGC-NET Earth, Atmospheric, Ocean and Planetary Sciences
• Mode: CSIR UGC-NET will be conducted as Online Computer Based Test (CBT) only
• Question Type: The question paper will be an objective type i.e. Multiple Choice Question's (MCQ's).
• Sections: There will be a total of 3 sections in each topic which includes Part A, Part B, and Part C.
o Part 'A' shall be common to all subjects. This part shall carry 20 questions pertaining to General Science, Quantitative Reasoning & Analysis and Research Aptitude. The candidates shall be required to answer any 15 questions. Each question shall be of two marks. The total marks allocated to this section shall be 30 out of 200.
o Part 'B' shall contain 50 Multiple Choice Questions(MCQs) generally covering the topics given in the syllabus. A candidate shall be required to answer any 35 questions. Each question shall be of two marks. The total marks allocated to this section shall be 70 out of 200.
o Part 'C' shall contain 80 questions that are designed to test a candidate's knowledge of scientific concepts and/or application of the scientific concepts. The questions shall be of analytical nature where a candidate is expected to apply the scientific knowledge to arrive at the solution to the given scientific problem. A candidate shall be required to answer any 25 questions. Each question shall be of 4 marks. The total marks allocated to this section shall be 100 out of 200.
Note - For Part ‘A’ and ‘B’ there will be Negative marking @25% for each wrong answer. The Negative marking for Part ‘C’ shall be @ 33% for each wrong answer.
1. In all the subject areas of the NET the actual number of questions asked and to be attempted in each section may vary from exam to exam.
2. The test will be in Hindi and English version. In case of any ambiguity between Hindi and English version due to translation, English version would be treated as final.
3. If a candidate attempts more than the required no. of questions then only the First Set of required questions will be considered for scoring.
