    1. when transaction is executing state, it is said to be in active state. 2. if due to some some reason like h/w or s/w failure, transaction fails, then it goes into failed state. 3. whenever the transaction performs read or write on a particular data item, it is not directly written into database, instead it is written on local memory, then it is said to be partially committed. 4. when the transaction made all the changes on data item which exists in local memory for now, it is then transferred to the main memory, then the transaction goes from partially committed state to committed state. 5. whenever the transaction fails, the changes made by that transaction should be rolled back to ensure consistency of the data base..after the changes are rolled back, that transaction will come under aborted state.. I hope that helps...🙂
