Assertion (A) : the basic thrust of strategic decision making in the process of strategic management is to make a choice regarding the courses of action to adopt, which is the primary task of the senior management. 
Reasons (R) : This is so because the basis concern in strategic management is to seek answers to questions. What is our business? What will it be? and what should it be?

    Strategic management is a set of decision for the formulation and implementation of the strategies decided by the top management for the achievement of pre-set longterm objectives. There are various courses of action available to the top management. Among these, the management has to select the best alternative which suits to fulfil the organizational objective. Using the available resources, management develop the overall plan to achieve the set objectives. This plan is known as Strategy.
    Both Assertion and Reason are true, and Reason is the right explanation of Assertion.
