Hepatocytes are incubated for 2 hours in physiological medium containing 1 millimole of acetate with 500000 disintegrations per minute (dpm) of 1-14C acetate. If fatty acids extracted from the hepatocytes contain 5000 dpm, what is the rate of incorporation of acetate into fatty acids, 1 micromoles per hours? 10.00 CO (A) 1.25 (B) 2.5 (C) 5.0 (D)

    Good Afternoon Hritik

    Greetings!!

Solution:(C) 1 millimole corresponds to 500,000, then 5000 corresponds to 1/100 millimoles, which is equals to 10 micromoles.

So, it would be 10 micromoles / 2 per hour, i.e., 5 micromoles per hour.
