    option D explanation- let I° is incident intensity For X Let transmittance = T1 I° / I' = 80% = .8 For Y Let transmittance = T2 I' / I = 60% = .6 resultant T = I°/I = (I° / I') ×( I' / I) or T = T1× T2 or T= .8 × .6 = .48 = 48%

    you can go through this simple way if such type of question given in which resultant transmittance asked you can use below formula T = T1 × T2 given T1 = 80% = .8 T2 = 60% = .6 T = .8× .6 = .48 = 48%

    As you know absorbance are additive in nature and from there you get relation that transmittance are multiplicative in nature
