    The basic principles of microscopy: magnification, resolution, numerical aperture, illumination, and focusing. The main application/use of microscopes is scientific research. It allows us to see things we could never see before with naked eyes. We use them in biology to study cells with optical/light microscopes, develop nanotechnology like carbon nanotubes with electron and scanning probe, and pathology to understand how diseases work. see attached images for better understanding..
