Thermophiles are referred to as microorganisms with optimal growth temperatures of >60C. survival physiology of thermophiles from an “omics” perspective, which suggests that the adaptive ability of thermophiles is based on a cooperative mode with multi-dimensional regulations integrating genomics, transcriptomics, and proteomics. Thermophilic proteins have several adaptations that give the protein the ability to retain structure and function in extremes of temperature. Some of the most prominent are increased number of large hydrophobic residues, disulfide bonds, and ionic interactions. minimize, adapt to and repair damage caused by extreme environmental disturbances. In thermophiles, lipids generally do not function as a single molecule but enormous number of molecules acting together, which assemble into a biologically functioning organelle, so thermophilic lipids should be considered as lipids that normally function at high temperature and are termed as ‘thermophilic lipids’.
