S. Eliot makes a critique by saying – “The mind of the poet … may partly or exclusively operate upon the experience of the man himself; but, the more perfect the artist, the more completely separate in him will be the man who suffers and the mind which creates; the more perfectly will the mind digest and transmute the passions which are its material.”

Lyrical Ballads was planned with Coleridge in 1797, when Wordsworth was living at Racedown with his sister.   The Second edition of the volume came out in 1800 with a Preface by Wordsworth.  In 1802, another revised edition was published which had more significant additions.
