Q:- An oil drop of mass m and charge q follow Brownian motion between two charged horizontal plates of seperation L and potential difference .lgnoring fringing effects, (a) Obtain the partition function, (b) Find the appropriate normalized canonical distribution function for the drop and calculate the probability distribution P(z) for the drop to be at height z above the horizontal bottom plate. (c) Calculate the mean height (z> above the bottom plate. (d) Write the force balance equation at equillibrium and find the mean height.
