option b is correct means Q/2*epsilon... Ms, vaishali did right... you can make one more cone in opposite direction so that whole surface(first cone+new cone) is now closed...

but if the charge it some other position of cone, you can't do this method...

    eduncle-logo-app

for any doubt you can ask..

    eduncle-logo-app

when you make a new cone in opposite side so that plane of both cone is same then the charge is at symmteric position that's why divide the flux equally for both cones...

    eduncle-logo-app

    that's why we divide***

you can assume a second cone just below the given cone, such that it covers the given charge at centre. now flux through this closed arrangement is q/(epsilon). so the flux through the upper part only is half of that. i.e. q/(2*epsilon).

    doubts will be entertained.

we solve these type of problems from gauss law and this law is valid only for symmetric bodies.

    eduncle-logo-app

for this charge to cover in symmetric manner we need two cones. and flux from it q/epsilon and hence from one cube is q/2(epsilon) .

hope this solution will help u.....
