Gene duplication (or chromosomal duplication or gene amplification) is a major mechanism through which new genetic material is generated during molecular evolution. Examining the length of a particular sequence in DNA can provide information about presence of duplication. Such sequence length studies can be carried out using PCR. In addition the gene structure can be altered during gene duplication. Also it indices change in the ploidy level (number of chromosome sets) of the cells. Hence, the last option is correct.
Correct answer is C. Please explain.
