    John Davidson is a Scottish poet and dramatist writing in the late Victorian and Edwardian era. His famous works are In a Music Hall and other Poems (1891) Fleet Street Eclogues (1893) Ballads and Songs (1894), Fleet Street Eclogues (1896) by New Ballads (1897) The Last Ballad (1899). Dramatic Works 'Testaments' The Testament of a Vivisector (1901), The Testament of a Man Forbid (1901), The Testament of an Empire Builder (1902), The Testament of John Davidson (1908) The Triumph of Mammon (1907) Mammon and his Message (1908). His philosophy was materialist and he had firm belief that the works of philosophers like Neitzsche were of little use. He primarily wrote ballads celebrating the Scottish His poems chronicled urban working class life, and his sense of outrage at the poverty of the ordinary man. In 1909, he committed suicide because of the financial difficulties he was facing for a long time.
