The frequencies for two alleles p and q for a gene locus in a population at Hardy- Weinberg equilibrium are 0.3 and 0.7, respectively. After a few generations of inbreeding, the heterozyg0 frequency was found to be 0.28. The inbreeding coefficient in this case is (A) T7. 0.42 (B) 0.28 (C) 0.33 (D) 0.67 Om

    Option (c) 0.33 is right answer choice. Explanation: The formula for finding inbreeding coefficient is mentioned below: Inbreeding coefficient (F) = [1- observed heterozygotes/expected heterozygotes] Here observed heterozygotes = 0.28 Expected heterozygotes will be 2pq i.e. 2x0.3x0.7 = 0.42 F = [1 - 0.28/0.42] = [ 1 - 2/3] = 1/3 = 0.33
