    Stuart Hall:  Hall, a scholar of West Indian origin, served as Director of the CCCS from 1968 to 1979-a period in which the CCCS developed many new concepts and ideas.
    Richard Hoggart: Hoggart became the first director of the Centre for Contemporary Cultural Studies at the University of Birmingham. He embarked on cultural analysis in The Uses of Literacy: Changing Patterns in English Mass Culture (1957).
    Raymond Williams: Williams has remained a key figure in the development of the various strands of what came to be known as Culture Studies.
