    a substance or chemical agent that inhibits retard blood coagulation. e.g. warfarin, heparin. sometime these are important to reduce chances of developing serious stroke and heart attacks. Aspirin drug (amntiplatelet) prevent blood platelets cells from clumping together to avoid clot formation. Ibuprofen is also an anticoagulant also a blood thinner. application: to preserve blood in blood banks. e.g. sodium citrate is used to keep blood in fluid state for transfusions.
