    Dear Shuvadip,

    Greetings!!

As per your query, Lucien Goldmann's 1963 book Towards a Sociology of the Novel establishes a theory of novel. The theory is based on the homology between the literary form of the novel...and the everyday relation between man and commodities in general, and by extension between men and other men, in a market society"  He says that if sociologists wanted to understand the time period in which the novel was written, they had only to look at the content of the novel, which provided information of customs, traditions, dress, mannerisms, technology, beliefs, etc. of the time. He says, "The novel form seems to me, in effect, to be the transposition on the literary plane of everyday life in the individualistic society created by market production."

Thank you for asking your query.
