    The main difference between delay and trace conditioning is simple: in delay conditioning, the unconditioned stimulus (US) immediately follows or coterminates with the conditioned stimulus (CS), whereas in trace conditioning, the CS and US are separated in time by a “trace” interval.. a procedure in which the conditioned stimulus is presented, and remains present, for a fixed period (the delay) before the unconditioned stimulus is introduced. After repeated exposure to such pairings, a conditioned response develops. Also called delayed conditioning. ...
