As far as I have the knowledge, the citizenship under article 5-11 came into force from Nov. 26 th 1949. that is why this day is also celebrated as law day in India. According to Article 394 of the Indian Constitution, there are remaining number of articles which were enforced on 26. Nov. 1949.

    Dear Sharmin,

    Greetings!!

The Constitution doesn’t lay down a permanent or comprehensive provision relating to citizenship in India . Part II of the Constitution simply describe classes of person who would be deemed to be citizen of India at the commencement of the Constitution , the 26th January 1950. The parliament under Art 11, has enacted the Indian citizenship Act ,1955 which provides for the acquisition and termination of citizenship subsequent to commencement of the Constitution . And constitutional provision regarding citizenship come into force on 26 th January 1950.
