Kyoto Protocol was signed in the Japanese city of Kyoto in December 1997 and came into force in 2005. it comes under United Nations Framework for Climate Changes and was organized in order to set targets for individual countries, the amount of Green house gases they can omit so that the growing problem of Global warming can be reduced. Green house gases tap the heat that reaches the earth through radiation which makes the planet warmer. Carbon dioxide, methane, nitrous oxide etc are the gases called GHG's.

The Kyoto Protocol implemented the objective of the UNFCCC to reduce the onset of global warming by reducing greenhouse gas concentrations in the atmosphere to "a level that would prevent dangerous anthropogenic interference with the climate system"
