    Lord Byron, the younger romantic poet wrote the Isle of Greece in 1819 before Greece fought for its independence from the rule of ottoman empire is 1821. He describes the glories of Greece in the poem emphasizing the necessity that the Greek people should fight against ottoman Turks to recover their land. He refers to sappho, Marathon, Persians grave, salams etc.
    It is a song inside the third canto of Don Juan which was written in 1819.
