Mannose 6 phosphate receptor over lysozyme(MPR) binds mannose 6-phosphate residues on lysosomal enzyme, both mannose and glucose are 6C sugars, almost similar structure (epimers) and are interconvertable by epimerase enzyme right. also M6P is very important for targeting Lysozyme enzyme to Lysosome organelle. now this is interesting 😀 to know both the absence of 2' OH and epimerization to G6P abolished recognition and binding of M6P by the receptor. receptor can recognise fructose 1 Phosphate but not G6P. therefore G6P is an ideal marker.

mannose 6 phosphate is important for targeting Lysozyme to Lysosome right if u replace with glucose 6 Phosphate it will not bind to receptor. simple
