    Only Option (a) is correct. since no heat is ejected or injected then the temperature will be constant, you are right option (d) can't be right, its free expansion. for option (a) see attached file, for option(d) i apologise. Wishes

    but in answer key they also provide D along with A. but D is not possible. is't??

    on removing partition, no heat is supplied to the system so dQ is zero and also no work is done as it is free expansion so dW is also zero, therefore using the first law of thermodynamics u can see dU is zero . therefore no change in internal energy...
