Time management is very much important in IIT JAM. The eduncle test series for IIT JAM Mathematical Statistics helped me a lot in this portion. I am very thankful to the test series I bought from eduncle.

A set of directions related by symmetry operations of the lattice or the crystal is called a family of directions. A family is a symmetry related set. A family of directions is represented (Miller Index notation) as: < u v w > . Note the brackets are important
[hkl] and {hkl} are same sir?
No gurmeet,zone symbol ([UVW]) The symbol which defines the position of the zone axis of a crystal with respect to the crystallographic reference axes of the mineral. It is enclosed in square brackets to indicate that it refers to a line and not a plane.
crystallography there are conventions as to how the indices of planes and directions are written. When referring to a specific plane, "round" brackets are used: (hkl) When referring to a set of planes related by symmetry, then "curly" brackets are used: {hkl}
sir do we have any example. as e.g for cubic it is - (111).
but when { hkl } can use
like if you denote {111} it defines octahedron form in Isometric system.. but in that octahedron if we take any single face we denote by ( 111)
