The transitional metal which form green compound in +3 oxidation state and yellow-orange compound in +6 oxidation state is chromium (Cr). Option A is correct In k2cr2o7 ,chromium is in maximum oxidation state of +6.. possess yellow colour In Cr2(SO4)3,chromium O.S is +3 possess Green colour

The table below shows the different oxidation states of the first row of transition metals and the colours of their solutions.

you can solve this question also by eliminating the option.. Nickel and cobalt are obviously not the answer as both don't possess maximum oxidation state of +6... Now come to chromium and iron...chromium exhibit +6 O.S in well known srongest oxidising agent K2Cr2O7 ...for iron it also possess +6 O.S but Fe2+ and Fe3+ are most common. So most probable answer would be chromium.

You have to remember some compounds colour...Take little bit help from the attached table above...

    got this manisha?

i also did this by elimination but acc. to that i thought it should be Fe because in +6 oxidation state Cr has EC 3d0 4s0....so no electron no transition.....but my calculations comes out to be wrong.....😅

cr207 2- is coloured due to charge transfer
