17 group i contains x- and y- components of the electric field and group li contains the type of polarization of light. group i group ii p. e, = cos(øt+ +kz) v2

how can I differentiate linearly polarised, unpolarised, elliptical polarised and circularly polarised. method please???

    You can check the states of polarization of a wave by very simple methods.I am attaching some image.In the first page a table is given if you can remember it then you can tell the states of polarization simply after seeing the comonents of the electric field(X and y component of E).If you don't want to remember the table then just see the next 2 pages to find the states of polarization by some easy mathematical steps.Hope it will help you a lot.Option C is the answer of the question you have attached.

    if phase difference is 0 or π thrn they will be linearly polarised

    but if frequency is not same then they will be unpolarized

    if in both wave phase difference is π/2 then they are circularly polarized

    but amplitude should be same otherwise they would be linearly polarized
