    Compounds which contains polor groups such as -OH , -COOH are soluble in NaOH because these are Acidic groups and NaOH is base so acid base reaction is favorable. Total 5 compounds are soluble i.e, II,III,IV,V, and VII

    The molecules which either contain COOH grp or OH group are soluble in aq NaOH. The solubility is due to the acidity of a carboxylic group or phenolic OH group which react with NaOH to form soluble salts. Thus, the total number of compounds soluble in aqueous NaOH is 4.
